3Shape Unite + MODJAW
CASE STUDY

Introduction

In the case of prosthetic restorations requiring preparation, the digital workflow consists of an initial scan and a post-preparation scan.
Discover the 3D/4D protocol for building a complete dynamic virtual patient, ready to be sent to the laboratory.

The case study introduced below is a 4 single crowns prosthetic restoration.

The overall protocol is shown below. Each step of the workflow is detailed in the "Step-by-step" section.

Step-by-step

STEP 1 - SCAN OF THE INITIAL SITUATION

Create a new case in Unite and select "MODJAW" in "Scan and send" section"

STEP 2- DYNAMIC RECORDING

Launch the TWIM software on your device. Create a new patient and load your models by clicking on the "3shape" button.

STEP 3 – TEETH PREPARATION

Once dynamic registration has been completed, unequip the patient and proceed with teeth preparation.

STEP 4 - POST-PREPARATION SCAN

Remain in the same patient file and return to the file creation stage to tick the "pre-preparation" box in the "Additional scans" window. Click on "Next" until the post-preparation scan step appears.

It is important to scan the post-preparation situation within the same patient file, to ensure correct referencing of pre- and post-preparation models..

Once the scan is complete, click on "Send changes".

STEP 5 – PREPARATION SCAN IMPORT & TWIM ANALYSIS

Open the patient file in Twim and load the post-preparation model as an additional model..

When importing the additional model, check the "Already matched" box.

Replay the consultation and proceed to analyze and prepare the data for the dental laboratory.

Tips & Tricks by
The analysis stage does not require the patient to be present, and can be done on the TWIM software of the Tech in Motion device, or on a third-party computer on which the software is installed.
Data analysis can be carried out by the practitioner or outsourced to our team of expert dentists through the Twimfit clinical service.

STEP 6 – EXPORT & SEND TO LABORATORY

Export the file to be sent to the laboratory from TWIM. The design and production stages are carried out in the prosthetics laboratory. For more information on designing prostheses using MODJAW dynamic data, please contact us.

BENEFITS

  • Interoperability between 3Shape Unite and TWIM software.
This integration enables files to be transferred between Unite and Twim software in just a few clicks, at the operator's request.
  • Easy transfer of scan files
The operator no longer needs to use external servers and/or USB sticks to transfer patient 3D models, which can save time and improve workflow in the practice.
  • Automatic matching of initial and preparation scans
Following this protocol ensures correct referencing of the initial and the preparation scans. The dental technician receives a consistent set of data he can use directly for the design of the prosthetics.
